Sai Baba loved lighting clay lamps in the Dwarkamai mosque every evening, using oil donated by local grocers. One day, the grocers combined to deny him oil for free. Calmly, Baba took water, drank a small sip, spat it back into the pot to bless it, and poured it into the lamps. The water-filled lamps burned brightly all night, leaving the grocers remorseful. This lesson shows that the divine grace transcends material scarcity and transforms the ordinary into the miraculous.
A wealthy devotee came to Shirdi with a purse full of money, seeking instant spiritual liberation. Knowing the man's greed, Baba asked him for two pice. The devotee searched his pocket but was hesitant to give. Baba explained that he had no interest in copper coins; the two pice he sought were **Shraddha** (faith) and **Saburi** (patience). These two qualities are the true currency required to walk the spiritual path and receive the Guru's blessings.
A lady lovingly baked a fresh bread and set off to offer it to Baba. On her way, she saw a hungry, sickly dog and fed it the bread. When she arrived at the mosque empty-handed and apologized, Baba smiled and said, "I have eaten your bread and my hunger is satisfied." The lady was puzzled. Baba explained, "The dog you fed on the street was me. Feeding any hungry creature is feeding the divine itself."
If you store up my teachings in your heart, you will find peace, light, and guidance at every turn of your life. Trust in the Guru, have faith and patience, and the divine will lift your burdens.— Shirdi Sai Baba
